The Study on 129 Emergency Information Center

Abstract

|
Approached by various methods, 129 Emergency Information Center has played most important part in Korean Emergency Medical System so far. So it seems useful that we analyze the present condition about 129 Emergency Information Center as a basic step for establishing the emergency medical system.
This study was carried into effect to provide the concret basic information for establishing emergency medical system in the area of Kwangju -Cheonnam.
The study analyzed the activities of Kwangju - Cheonnam 129 Emergency Information Center from July, 1991 to June, 1995 and also compared with the problems that were shown before.
The results through this study as follows ;
99.4 % total reception were within the jurisdiction and actual reception managed were no more than 6.9%. And also in Kwangju - Cheonnam, mistaken receptions and simple inquired calls were amounted to largest percentage. The percentage of the moving out of an ambulance was 24.2 %. 4.7 % of them were the moving out of an ambulance by Korean Emergency Rescue Team and were formed of cooperation system with 119 Emergency Medical Services of Fire Department whose motive power is excellent. The rate of refusal frequency of the moving out of an ambulance amounts to 20.9 %. The most important reason that amounts to 50 % was that the ambulance was on the moving. And no answering amount to 30.5 %. It shows that the appointed emergency hospitals don´t have enough ambulance car and also give a preview of both a lot of problems and improvements of the important communication network system in the field of emergency medical system.
On the basis of the above results, we need more studies on the present condition of the 119 emergency Medical Services of Fire Department, the resources holded by the appointed emergency hospitals and the education program for experts.
